    Allegra Medication

    Allegra medication is basically used to prevent allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching and watery eyes. Its major component is antihistamine called Fexofenadine. Fexofenadine is a long- acting antihistamine that blocks histamine which can cause allergic reactions. It does not cause sedation or drowsiness unlike other antihistamines.

    In taking Allegra medication, you should keep various things in mind to prevent negative repercussions.

    First, make certainly that you're not allergic to Allegra medication or antihistamines. Since taking Allegra medication will only worsen your sickness if you have allergic reaction towards it.
    Second, inform your doctor for any illness you have such as high blood pressure, heart, kidney or liver disease. As these traumas require special monitoring from your doctor and lesser Allegra medication dosage.
    Third, Allegra medication result on pregnancy could not be ascertained. So it's best to refrain from taking Allegra medication while pregnant or planning to obtain pregnant. Also, Allegra medication taken while nursing could have possible negative effect to the breast milk. It is advised to refrain from taking Allegra medication while lactating.
    Fourth, Allegra medication is only approved for children 6 years old and above with a very minimal dosage of 30mg of Allegra medication twice daily. Adults could take 180mg once everyday of Allegra medication.
    Fifth, Allegra medication should be taken as directed by the doctor. Never experiment on the dosage as overdose could cause possible negative consequences.
    Sixth, Allegra medication is taken orally with a full glass of water.
    Seventh, Allegra medication should be taken twice daily- morning and evening. If the doctor gave you a special dosage of Allegra medication due to your illness, then follow the doctor's prescription. The recommended dosage of Allegra medication is for adults and children 12 years old and above, 60 mg tablet twice everyday or 180mg once daily. For children 6 to 11 years old, 30 mg tablet twice daily.
    Eight, Allegra medication should not be taken along with an antacid that has aluminum or magnesium such as Maalox, Mylanta, Milk of Magnesia and others since these antacids lessen the effects of Allegra medication.
    And finally, store Allegra medication at room temperature, free from moisture and heat.
    There could be side effects in taking Allegra medication. Fortunately, these side effects from Allegra medication eventuate rarely and are not serious. Some observed headache, nausea or disturbed stomach from taking Allegra medication. These side effects from Allegra medication do not really call for medical recognition but it's wise to talk to your doctor about it.
